Ana Navarro lashes out at Rubio for calling outrage over Trump’s ‘go back’ tweet ‘self righteous’
“The View” co-host Ana Navarro criticized Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) after he labeled politicians and press “self righteous hypocrites” for demanding outrage over President Trump recently telling four congresswoman of color to “go back” to their home countries.
“I have seen Marco Rubio, whose parents came here fleeing poverty, who represents a community where they were told, ‘We won’t rent to Cubans, to blacks or to dogs,’ ‘You can’t drink from this water fountain,’ I have seen him try to justify this,” she said of Rubio’s comments during an episode of “The View” on Friday.
“I’ve seen him call people who are outraged, like me, he calls it ‘self righteous hypocrites,’” Navarro, a former Republican strategist who supported former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in the 2016 Republican presidential primary, said.
“Let me tell you what self-righteous hypocrisy is: tweeting Bible verses every day and remaining silent while this president puts children in cages,” she continued.

“You know what self-righteous hypocrisy is? Representing a community full of Venezuelans and Cubans and Haitians and Puerto Ricans, people who hear every day, ‘Go back to where you’re from,’ and somehow trying to play this as if there are two sides.”
{mosads}Navarro’s comments came in response to a Thursday tweet from Rubio in which he took aim at “left wing politicians & many in the media” for demanding outrage over Trump’s recent attacks on four lawmakers of color and chants targeting Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) that were launched by supporters at his rally in North Carolina earlier this week.
“The tweet was wrong & the chant last night grotesque,” Rubio said in the tweet before adding, “The left wing politicians & many in the media demanding outrage are self righteous hypocrites.”
“And the ‘outrage & response cycle’ allows for only 2 sides & demands you pick or else,” he also said in the tweet. “It’s a stupid game that I refuse to play.”
