“The View” host Meghan McCain questioned entrepreneur and 2020 Democratic candidate Andrew Yang on Monday about his plan to make free marriage counseling available to all couples.

Yang appeared on the daytime talk show and was asked about a variety of his policies, with McCain focusing in on his free marriage counseling proposal.

{mosads}“My version of marriage counseling is drinking Jack Daniels, shooting some guns and hanging out,” McCain, the daughter of late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), said. “This universal peg for every hole is always my problem with the left right now.”

She continued, saying “every American is different, every American does things in different ways.”

Yang clarified his plan would give married couples a stipend to spend on marriage counseling, not mandate couples meet with a social worker or counselor.

“The data shows that if you grow up in a two parent household certain outcomes are more likely, so from a societal perspective it makes perfect sense to try to keep couples together if they want to stay together,” Yang said.
