Former Fox News reporter said opinion hosts were ‘more than I could stand’

Former Fox News reporter Carl Cameron doubled down this week on his remarks that his prior employer’s content has become overtly partisan, leading to his departure for a left-leaning website. 

“Frankly, while the news division at Fox News Channel has always worked to be truly fair and balanced and to be accurate, the opinion hosts in prime time and elsewhere on Fox had become more than I could stand,” Cameron told CNN‘s Brian Stelter on the “Reliable Sources” podcast. 

Cameron told CNN he doesn’t object to opinion hosts in general, but their information should be “accurate, fact-based, verifiable and information that helps as opposed to hurts people in their efforts to make a good decision when it comes to our politics.”{mosads}

He added that a good chunk of cable news today is “full of ideology and entertainment and opinion,” but to many viewers it looks like it’s hard news. 

“And there is a big, big difference,” he said. 

Cameron had previously said the “right-wing hosts drowned out straight journalism with partisan misinformation,” in June when he announced he’d be joining Front Page Live. 

The website, in part, aims to serve as an antidote to the conservative Drudge Report. 

Cameron’s new title at Front Page Live is chief political correspondent, where he creates and contributes videos. 

He said the website helps balance the playing field in partisan media, saying Republicans and conservatives found a foothold on the internet early on.
