CNN’s Cooper mocks Trump: ‘Is that where the wall exists? Somewhere deep in outer space’

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper on Wednesday mocked President Trump, asking if “a wall actually exists somewhere deep in outer space” while discussing the first-ever images of a black hole that were published earlier in the day.

“It blows my mind,” Cooper said of the images in an appearance on CBS’s “Late Show with Stephen Colbert”

{mosads}“How is space endless? What does that mean? How is that possible? What does ‘endless’ mean?” Cooper, who also serves as a correspondent for CBS’s “60 Minutes,” asked the late-night host.

“I’m not sure if it is endless,” Colbert replied.

“Does it stop? Is there a wall?” Cooper quipped.

“There are some concepts where space is bent,” Colbert noted in the back-and-forth.

“Is that where the wall actually exists? Somewhere in deep outer space. I don’t know,” Cooper mockingly added. “If you tear down an old wall, and you replace it in the exact same spot … it’s a new wall.”

Cooper and Colbert’s exchange focused on Trump’s claim made in a tweet last week that a “new wall was being built on our Southern Border.”

The president was tweeting ahead of a visit to the border town of Calexico, Calif.

“Will soon be landing in Calexico, California to look at a portion of the new WALL being built on our Southern Border,” Trump tweeted, while maintaining that “within two years we will have close to 400 miles built or under construction.”

The president was touring a two-mile section of a new barrier that was the replacement of a barrier built during the Obama administration.

Cooper, who anchors “Anderson Cooper 360” nightly on CNN, has appeared on Colbert’s program on several occasions in the past.
