Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt slammed the Colorado Supreme Court for knocking former President Trump off the state’s Republican primary ballot under the 14th Amendment, saying the high court’s latest move “beclowns itself and its state.”

“Colorado Supreme Court, by a vote of 4-3, beclowns itself and its state,” Hewitt wrote in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“SCOTUS should move quickly to reverse this idiocy,” Hewitt added, referring the the U.S. Supreme Court.

Hewitt, a stark defender of Trump, also criticized the “politicization of courts at all levels.”

“The politicization of courts at all levels is greatly damaging to the rule of law,” he wrote. “It should [issue] a 9-0 reversal and it should be quick.”

Hewitt, alongside NBC News’s Lester Holt and Kristen Welker, moderated the third Republican presidential debate in November.

Hewitt’s comments came shortly after the decision was announced. The high court cited the 14th Amendment’s “insurrection clause” in its decision.

The ruling reverses a previous decision by a district court that ruled that the disqualification clause in the 14th Amendment, originally intended to address secessionists in the wake of the Civil War, did not apply to Trump.

The court put its ruling on hold until Jan. 4, so the former president can first seek review from the Supreme Court, which Trump’s spokesperson vowed to do.

Trump is the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination next year.
