Geraldo Rivera of Fox News clashed with a co-host of “Fox & Friends” on Friday during a discussion of a new congressional resolution in support of the Green New Deal.

The resolution, introduced Thursday by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), calls for steps such as upgrading infrastructure and transitioning to 100 percent renewable energy by 2030.

{mosads}Rivera, a correspondent-at-large for Fox News, called the deal “aspirational” and “idealistic.”

“You aspire for total control?” co-host Brian Kilmeade asked Rivera. “You aspire to support the people that don’t work?”

“No, you aspire to get rid of pollution, Brian,” Rivera replied. “You aspire to get rid of traffic. You aspire to make the world environmentally a place where it is sustainable.”

“There is evidence that something has to change to keep those temperatures from continuing to go up,” he added.

In addition to Thursday’s introduction of the resolution, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) appointed several Democrats to sit on a new climate change panel. Ocasio-Cortez was not one of the committee members.
