MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski said Tuesday that it was “despicable” for GOP lawmakers to dismiss a court filing from federal prosecutors that implicates President Trump in crimes committed by his former lawyer, Michael Cohen.

“Some top Republicans are dismissing the allegations that Donald Trump directed his former fixer Michael Cohen to make illegal hush-money payments to two women during the 2016 campaign,” Brzezinski said on “Morning Joe,” before listing reactions from Republican senators such as Orrin Hatch (Utah) and Chuck Grassley (Iowa).

{mosads}Hatch on Monday stated that he didn’t care about the recent court filing from the Southern District of New York, adding that “all I can say is he’s doing a good job as president.”

Asked if he was concerned about the allegations about the president, Hatch said, “No, because I don’t think he was involved in crimes.”

“But even then, you know, you can make anything a crime under the current laws,” he added.

Brzezinski took major issue with the remark, saying that Hatch is “turning into Trump.”

“These people are turning into Trump,” she added, before noting that Grassley, the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman, told CNN that prosecutors’ argument was hurt because it was based on “what a liar” said, referring to Cohen.

“That liar was employed as a close fixer for the president for over a decade,” she said.

Brzezinski also cites reactions from Sen. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) before calling their comments both “incredible” and “despicable.”

Federal prosecutors in New York released a new court filing in their case against Cohen last week.

In it, prosecutors argued that Cohen “acted in coordination with and at the direction of” an individual that matches Trump’s description before the election in steering payments to silence a pair of women, Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, about alleged affairs.

Trump has repeatedly denied the affairs.

The filing does not specifically name Trump, but makes multiple references to him as “Individual-1.”
