NewsNation names Blake Burman full-time host of ‘The Hill’

NewsNation, the cable news channel owned by Nexstar Media Group, has named reporter and anchor Blake Burman as full-time host of “The Hill,” its recently launched daily politics and policy table talk program.

Burman joined NewNation in January as its chief Washington correspondent after a five-year stint covering the White House at Fox Business.

“Blake is an excellent discussion leader with a great understanding of how the decisions in Washington impact everyday Americans across this country,” said Cherie Grzech, senior vice president of news and politics and managing editor at NewsNation, in a statement announcing Burman’s new gig.

“The Hill” debuted on NewsNation in late April, airing at 5 p.m. EDT and featuring a rotating cast of reporters, political analysts and other guests to discuss the day’s news.

The network said a series of rotating panelists will continue to appear on the show, including political editor Chris Stirewalt, former Obama official and political contributor Johanna Maska, former Trump chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and former White House press secretary Sean Spicer.

The show was launched less than two years after Nexstar Media Group purchased online news outlet and beltway print newspaper The Hill.

Nexstar has separately poured millions into its political staff and programming in Washington and across the country in recent months. Last summer, NewsNation hired ex-CNN host Chris Cuomo to host an evening show, and earlier this year, it brought on former ABC News reporter Elizabeth Vargas to host a prime-time program of her own.

A number of reporters and editors at The Hill have made regular appearances on the program since its launch, a trend the network indicated it expects to continue after Burman takes over hosting duties full time on Sept. 5.
