Ex-Trump staffer’s book describes ‘Team of Vipers’

A forthcoming book from a former White House aide will depict President Trump’s staff as an often-combative “team of vipers,” The New York Times reported Monday.

Cliff Sims, who worked on the Trump campaign before spending time on the White House communications staff, is releasing a new book entitled “Team of Vipers,” which is being touted as an inside look at the presidency. It is due out in January.

“Lincoln famously had his Team of Rivals. Trump had his Team of Vipers. We served. We fought. We brought our egos. We brought our personal agendas and vendettas. We were ruthless. And some of us, I assume, were good people,” Sims wrote in an author’s note obtained by the Times.

Politico first reported on the upcoming release of the book.

Sims will become the latest ex-White House staffer to turn their time in the Trump administration into a book. Former aides Sean Spicer and Omarosa Manigault Newman both penned memoirs focused on their time in the White House. Spicer’s was more flattering of the president, while Manigault Newman accused Trump of being a racist and misogynist in her book.

Other books, including Bob Woodward’s “Fear: Trump in the White House” and Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” have painted the White House as a chaotic environment rife with infighting.
