Former Red Sox star, Breitbart radio host Curt Schilling not invited to World Series ceremony

Former Red Sox pitcher and current Breitbart radio host Curt Schilling was not invited to participate in a ceremony honoring stars of the 2004 World Series championship team before Wednesday night’s Game 2 of the Fall Classic at Fenway Park in Boston. 

“We did not reach out to him, but it is not out of spite,” an team executive told the Boston Globe on Thursday.

Schilling, a staunch supporter of President Trump and the host of “Whatever It Takes” on Sirius XM’s Breitbart Radio, confirmed in a tweet that he was not invited, noting he gets to keep the three World Series rings and trophies he won with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Red Sox, respectively.

“No worries though, great to see @45PedroMartinez @davidortiz and @KMillar15 ‘The pimper of walks’ though. Oh and I get to keep my 3 rings and 3 trophies, so it’s all good,” Schilling, who lives in the Boston area, wrote to his nearly 240,000 followers.

{mosads}Schilling is arguably best known for his performance in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees in Oct. 2004, which was dubbed “the bloody sock game.” At the time, the Red Sox were trailing in the series, 3 games to 2, when Schilling took the mound at Yankee Stadium despite blood coming from his ankle as a result to procedure before the game to stabilize a torn tendon. Schilling pitched the team to the 4-2 victory.

Boston went on to win its first World Series championship in 86 years. 

After retiring, he would go on to work as an analyst for ESPN in 2010.

Schilling was fired from ESPN in 2016 for what the network dubbed as an offensive tweet regarding a North Carolina law that banned transgender people from using bathrooms and locker rooms that do not associate with their birth genders.

“A man is a man no matter what they call themselves. I don’t care what they are, who they sleep with, men’s room was designed for the penis, women’s not so much. Now you need laws telling us differently? Pathetic.” wrote Schilling in April 2016.

The 51-year-old signed on with Breitbart Radio in Oct. 2016.

Boston leads the Los Angeles Dodgers in the current World Series, two games to none.
