Ben Shapiro slams both parties for partisan treatment of FBI
Conservative writer Ben Shapiro on Thursday accused both Democrats and Republicans of treating the FBI however is politically expedient amid the agency’s release of its report into the allegations of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Democrats 5 minutes ago: How dare Trump malign the noble, spotless, thorough FBI?
Democrats now: The FBI is incompetent and biased.
Republicans have done the same trick. Is it possible that the FBI is a law enforcement agency, with all of the attendant qualities and drawbacks?— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) October 4, 2018
Senators are currently viewing the report of the FBI’s reopened background check into Kavanaugh, an investigation that Democrats say was too limited and constrained, but which Republicans say has offered no corroborative evidence of the allegations against him.
{mosads}”This investigation found no hint of misconduct…I’ll be voting to confirm Judge Kavanaugh,” Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said in a statement Thursday.
“It’s obviously a cover-up,” countered Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) after the report was released to the chamber.
“The Trump White House, working with the Republican leadership in the Senate, have deliberately circumscribed this investigation so that only a small handful of people will be questioned.”
The White House has repeatedly denied being involved at all in the investigation and have said they have left the scope up to the Senate and FBI.
Previously, Republicans have criticized the FBI for its handling of the probe into possible collusion between Russia and the Trump 2016 campaign.
Democrats have been stalwart defenders of the FBI on that issue, blasting the president for frequently ridiculing the bureau.
The president told The Hill earlier this month that his “crowning achievement” may be making clear that the FBI probe into possible Russia collusion between his campaign was a “hoax.”
