Bartiromo: Press conference with Putin was ‘probably the low point’ of Trump’s presidency

Fox Business Network host Maria Bartiromo on Tuesday called President Trump’s press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin “probably the low point of the presidency so far.”

Bartiromo said on her show “Mornings with Maria” that there’s no question “that the Russians tried to undermine the West … and meddled in our election.”

She pulled out a copy of the House Intelligence Committee’s report that found that Russians had interfered in the election to support her argument.

The report did not find that there was evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, a conclusion denounced by the panel’s Democratic members.

“There’s no question about that,” Bartiromo said, referring to Russia’s election meddling, “But the president didn’t want to address it in front of Vladimir Putin, which is a head-scratcher.”

She later said that there could be resignations in the Trump administration in response to the president’s Monday press conference in Helsinki.

“We’ll see how long-lasting this is. It was probably the low point of the presidency so far,” Bartiromo continued.

Trump caused mass outrage from both sides of the aisle after he said during the press conference with Putin Monday that he believed the Russian leader’s denial of interference in the 2016 elections, contradicting the conclusion reached by U.S. intelligence agencies.

“I have great confidence in my intelligence people, but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today,” Trump said.

Democrats, Republicans and intelligence officials have all denounced the president’s comments.
