Politicon, dubbed the “Unconventional Political Convention,” announced Monday that its annual event and tour will feature former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, The Young Turks’ Hasan Piker and actor and writer Grace Parra.
“Politicon is the annual, non-partisan ‘Unconventional Political Convention’ that brings Republicans, Democrats, and people of all political stripes together to banter and spar over the most topical issues in smart and entertaining ways that often poke fun at both sides of the aisle,” Politicon said in a statement.
“Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a full weekend of debates and panels, radio and TV broadcasts, podcasts, Q&A’s, comedy shows, book signings, interviews, and meet-and-greets,” it added. “With rooms ranging from 50-seaters to large-scale auditoriums, attendees will be able to get up close and personal with political heavyweights, revel in the endless humor, dissect documentaries and parodies with filmmakers, and possibly even interact with a few of history’s greatest leaders.”
{mosads}This year’s event will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from Oct. 20-21, just two weeks before the midterm election in November. Its tour will then span several cities including Dallas, Denver and Phoenix through November.
Politicon’s 2017 convention drew more than 10,000, its highest attendance to date since being founded in 2015.
Last year’s event featured big names in the political media world, including Chelsea Handler, America Ferrera, Jake Tapper, Tomi Lahren, Cenk Uygur, Ben Shapiro, James Carville, Roger Stone and Ann Coulter. Participants for this year’s event will be announced later this summer, according to organizers.
In 2017, MSNBC was a media partner of the event. The network sent Kasie Hunt, Steve Kornacki, Ari Melber, Joy Reid and Jacob Soboroff as presenters of a series of panels, discussions and Q&A sessions.
