MSNBC host compiles list of White House officials who have reportedly insulted Trump

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle on Tuesday put together a list of current and former officials in President Trump’s administration who have reportedly insulted the president.

White House chief of staff John Kelly called an NBC News report “total BS” on Monday after it claimed that he has called Trump “an idiot” on multiple occasions.

{mosads}“This is another pathetic attempt to smear people close to President Trump and distract from the administration’s many successes,” Kelly said in a White House statement on Monday.

Ruhle stood by her NBC News team’s reporting on Tuesday, saying “this is not a false story.”

To back up her point, Ruhle rounded up other reports of Trump officials insulting the president.

“John Kelly is not the first member of the Trump administration to call the president names,” she said.

NBC News reported last that October Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called Trump a “moron.”

Former national security adviser H.R. McMaster reportedly mocked Trump’s intelligence at a private dinner with a tech CEO in November. BuzzFeed reported at the time that McMaster called Trump an “idiot” and a “dope” with the intelligence of a “kindergartner.”

When Michael Wolff’s book “Fire and Fire: Inside the Trump White House” was released in January, it quoted Trump’s former top economic adviser, Gary Cohn, saying his boss was “dumb as shit.”

The book also reports that Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and former chief of staff Reince Priebus both have referred to Trump as an “idiot.”

And former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson reportedly called Trump a “moron” after a meeting at the Pentagon last year.

While the White House and the officials have denied the claims, there is a pattern of senior officials insulting the president, Ruhle said.
