Lou Dobbs: I’d fire Mueller ‘in three seconds’ if it were me

Fox Business Network host Lou Dobbs on Monday tore into the Department of Justice and Robert Mueller, saying of the special counsel that, after the FBI’s raid on President Trump’s personal attorney, he would “fire the [son of a bitch] in the three seconds if it were me.” 

Dobbs and his guests launched a series of attacks on Mueller hours after the FBI raided the office and home of Michael Cohen, who made a $130,000 payment to adult-film star Stormy Daniels to keep her from revealing her allegations of a 2006 affair with Trump.

“This is now a man that has to be brought under control, it would seem to me,” Dobbs said of Mueller. “Frankly, I can’t imagine, because each of us has to come to terms with our own heart and conscience — I would fire the SOB in three seconds if it were me.”

{mosads}It was reported that federal prosecutors in the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office obtained search warrants for Cohen’s office after receiving a referral “in part” from Mueller.

Agents reportedly seized communications between Cohen and Trump, tax documents and records related to Cohen’s $130,000 payment, made days before the 2016 election.

“If there’s anyone in this country who thinks that this Department of Justice leadership is competent, is impartial and fair and committed to justice instead of a partisan result … then they haven’t been paying attention to anything that’s been going on in the nation’s capital,” Dobbs said.

Dobbs has frequently lavished praise on the president and supported unsubstantiated claims of a “deep state” within the federal government. Trump reportedly speaks with Dobbs for advice from time to time.

Trump responded to Monday’s raid by railing against the special counsel’s investigation. He called it a “witch hunt,” claimed Mueller’s team was biased and said multiple people suggested he fire the special counsel.

Legal experts believe Trump does not have the power to directly fire Mueller, who reports to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. 

Last June, Trump tried to order Mueller’s termination, but backed off after White House counsel Don McGahn threatened to resign.

Mueller’s probe thus far has led to indictments or guilty pleas from three former Trump associates, and charges against 13 Russians for allegedly attempting to interfere in the election.
