Limbaugh: Trump at 50 percent approval while media is ‘100 percent opposed’

Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh during his radio show on Monday said that “every media outlet out there is lined up 100 percent” against President Trump “and yet he is at 50 percent approval” in one poll.

The commentary from Limbaugh comes after Trump hit 50 percent approval in a Rasmussen daily Presidential Tracking Poll on Monday

“All of these things that Trump is up against and yet he is at 50 percent approval. How in the world has this happened?” Limbaugh said on his nationally syndicated program. “Not to mention 100 percent, 90 percent negative media coverage. The New York Times, The Washington Post, the [Los Angeles] L.A. Times, CNN, USA Today, MSNBC, every media outlet out there is lined up 100 percent opposed to him.”

“You would think that with all of this his numbers would be plummeting,” he said. “I have long thought that this never-ending, unreasonable attack on Trump is going to have a backlash, is going to cause a backlash at some point.

“You cannot maintain fevered pitch emotion over anything, pro or con, at 100 percent intensity for very long,” Limbaugh concluded.

The president took to Twitter to tout the poll number on Tuesday morning.

“Thank you to Rasmussen for the honest polling. Just hit 50%, which is higher than Cheatin’ Obama at the same time in his Administration,” Trump tweeted to his 49.9 million followers.

While the Rasmussen poll put Trump at 50 percent approval, the RealClearPolitics (RCP) polling average puts his approval rating significantly lower, at 41.8 percent. Rasmussen has consistently showed higher approval ratings for Trump than other polls.

President Obama sat at 48.4 approval in the RCP average at the point in his presidency, on Apr. 1, 2010.
