Fox News decries ‘intimidation,’ affirms support for Ingraham

Fox News

Fox News on Monday gave a show of support to host Laura Ingraham, who lost several advertisers after she was critical of a Parkland, Fla, shooting survivor on Twitter.

“We cannot and will not allow voices to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts,” Jack Abernethy, co-president of Fox News, told the Los Angeles Times.

“We look forward to having Laura Ingraham back hosting her program next Monday when she returns from spring vacation with her children,” he added.

{mosads}Ingraham announced last Friday that she was taking a preplanned vacation and would not host the show this week. She has taken criticism for mocking David Hogg of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for getting rejected by colleges.

Hogg is among the most prominent survivors of the Feb. 14 shooting at the Florida school and has become a vocal advocate for stricter gun laws since the attack. He helped organize the “March for our Lives” and was one of the featured speakers at a rally in Washington.

After Ingraham criticized him, Hogg took to Twitter to call on followers to urge Ingraham’s top advertisers to boycott her show.

Since then, more than a dozen companies have announced they will no longer purchase ad time during “The Ingraham Angle.”

After the first few companies announced their decision, Ingraham apologized “for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the brave victims of Parkland.” She also praised Hogg’s “4.2 GPA.”

Hogg rejected her apology, calling it “an effort just to save your advertisers.”
