Breitbart deletes Super Bowl-Muslim tweet

The conservative website Breitbart News deleted a tweet Sunday night that suggested Muslims will bring an end to the Super Bowl if they gain control of the United States.

The tweet was in the form of a discussion between a child who asks what the Super Bowl was, and a grandparent explaining why it was done away with.

It included a picture of players from the New England Patriots kneeling and linking arms earlier this year, and a link to a Breitbart story about people not watching the Super Bowl.

Many players across the NFL have taken a knee this year to protest racial inequality in the United States. President Trump has criticized the protests.

Breitbart was condemned for the tweet, and on Monday morning announced via Twitter that the deleted tweet did not meet its editorial standards.

This is not the first time Breitbart has faced criticism for anti-Muslim remarks made on its behalf. An editor said she was fired for anti-Muslim tweets she posted after the terrorist attack in London in June.
