Dickerson to replace Charlie Rose on CBS

“Face the Nation” host John Dickerson will replace Charlie Rose on “CBS This Morning,” according to a Tuesday HuffPost report.

The reported move comes seven weeks after Rose, 76, was ousted from the network after eight women accused him of sexual harassment and misconduct.

Dickerson, 49, was named chief Washington correspondent for CBS News in March 2017 and joined CBS nearly a decade ago in 2009. 

Dickerson, also the network’s political director, was named “Face the Nation” anchor in April 2015 following veteran Bob Schieffer’s retirement. Schieffer had anchored the program since 1991. 

Rose, who co-hosted “CBS This Morning,” was accused of making unwanted sexual advances ranging from making lewd suggestions during phone calls to walking naked in front of female employees to groping their breasts or genital areas, according to a Nov. 19 Washington Post report. He was also fired from PBS as a result. 

Rose acknowledged in a statement following the report that he had “behaved insensitively” at times, but said that some of the allegations were not accurate.

“CBS This Morning,” which is currently co-anchored by Norah O’Donnel and Gayle King, has shown ratings improvement over the past few years but still lags behind ABC’s “Good Morning America” and NBC’s “Today” show in the morning show race.
