BuzzFeed fires White House reporter after alleged inappropriate comments
BuzzFeed News fired White House correspondent Adrian Carrasquillo following an internal investigation into alleged inappropriate comments he made to a colleague, Business Insider reported Wednesday.
“We are saddened by these circumstances, but we take these issues extremely seriously. We’re committed to ensuring that BuzzFeed remains a place where everyone is treated respectfully by his or her peers,” a BuzzFeed spokesman told Business Insider.
BuzzFeed began investigating Carrasquillo and others after their names appeared on a spreadsheet that listed men in media who were accused of sexual misconduct or other inappropriate behavior.
{mosads}A new complaint that included evidence of inappropriate comments Carrasquillo sent to a co-worker recently came to light, which prompted the reporter’s firing, Bussiness Insider reported.
Carrasquillo’s firing comes amid a wave of sexual misconduct allegations against politicians and prominent media figures, including Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.), Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.), Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Texas), Matt Lauer, Harvey Weinstein, Mark Halperin, Charlie Rose and others.
