The two New York Times reporters who reported on the allegations that ended the career of film mogul Harvey Weinstein and sparked a nationwide movement against sexual harassment are writing a book based on the controversy.

Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey have signed a deal with Penguin Press to publish a book detailing the Weinstein story and the #MeToo movement that has taken down other prominent figures in media and politics since the Weinstein story ran, according to a statement from the publisher to The New York Times.

“In this moment of attack on their profession, Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey’s investigative reporting on sexual harassment has proven that the discipline, craft and ethics of journalism can truly spark social change,” said Penguin’s editor and president Ann Godoff.

“Their book will contextualize and enlarge this important conversation,” she added.

A follow-up investigation published last week by Kantor and Twohey revealed a network of “enablers, silencers and spies” covering Weinstein’s misconduct.

Dozens of women, including prominent actresses Rose McGowan, Angelina Jolie, and Gwyneth Paltrow, have accused Weinstein of using his position at the film company Miramax to pressure younger women into performing sexual acts. Many women reported fearing for their careers if they denied his advances.

Weinstein was terminated from his own company in October following the allegations, some of which he has denied.

“Mr. Weinstein obviously can’t speak to anonymous allegations, but with respect to any women who have made allegations on the record, Mr. Weinstein believes that all of these relationships were consensual,” Weinstein said through his representative in October.

“Mr. Weinstein has begun counseling, has listened to the community and is pursuing a better path. Mr. Weinstein is hoping that, if he makes enough progress, he will be given a second chance.”
