Fox’s Cavuto: I won’t have Trump on my show

Neil Cavuto said he’s “just not interested” in interviewing President Trump on his Fox News or Fox Business weekday programs, stating that sitting down with the former real estate mogul “probably would not add” value.

“It’s true, no presidential interview request into the White House,” Cavuto said Tuesday. “Not a one … I have not asked for a sit-down with the President. I don’t want a sit down with the president.”

“I know that sounds crazy. That’s not because I like dislike the President,” he continued.

“I just see little to be gained getting him for the customary 10 minutes now or adding my name to the long and impressive list of people who’ve already interviewed the president now, including a lot of great people here.”

President Trump has sat down for interviews with Fox News or Fox Business 18 times since taking office. ABC, CBS and NBC News combined have been granted just five interviews, while CNN and MSNBC have had no interviews with Trump since the 2016 campaign.

“I’ve learned from something from every chat,” said Cavuto. “I’m just not interested in joining the chat.

“Again, not because I don’t cover the president, maybe because I can just as effectively do that without interviewing the president. Maybe that’s because the one thing I’ve learned about interviewing presidents is time is tight,” Cavuto concluded.

“And Republican or Democrat, they’re pretty good at running out the clock. That doesn’t mean sit-downs with presidents don’t add value, just that my sitting down with this one probably would not.”

Cavuto, 59, has been with Fox News since its inception in 1996. He serves as managing business editor for Fox Business in addition to being a host on both networks.
