Fired US attorney joining CNN: report
Preet Bharara, the former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, will become part of CNN as a senior legal analyst, Politico reported Wednesday.
Bharara was fired from the Department of Justice after he refused to resign when the Trump administration asked 46 Obama-appointed prosecutors to do so.
He has since started a podcast called “Stay Tuned with Preet,” which airs from WNYC Radio.
{mosads}Bharara has not shied away from criticizing President Trump and his administration since leaving office. The former U.S. attorney most recently said he believes Trump would have requested he “do something inappropriate” had he not been fired.
CNN has also added Walter Shaub, the former director of the Office of Government Ethics, as a contributor, the Politico report said.
Shaub has also slammed the Trump administration over ethics issues, saying on his way out of the ethics office that Trump “gives the appearance of profiting from the presidency” when foreign governments decide to host events at the Trump International Hotel.
