Trump posts O’Keefe videos on Instagram
President Trump on Wednesday posted two videos to Instagram from conservative provocateur James O’Keefe showing a CNN producer and commentator on separate occasions calling the Russia probe into Trump associates “mostly bulls—” and “a nothingburger.”
Trump has 7 million followers on Instagram.
O’Keefe, the founder of “Project Veritas,” earlier Wednesday released a secretly recorded tape of CNN political commentator and host Van Jones saying the network’s heavy coverage of possible collusion between Trump campaign officials and Russia “is just a big nothingburger.”
“The Russia thing is just a big nothingburger. There’s nothing there you can do,” Jones says to a person who introduces himself on the street as someone who had met Jones “in Palm Springs” a few years ago.
{mosads}One day earlier, O’Keefe posted video of a CNN producer saying the network’s Russia coverage is mostly “bulls—.”
Trump has characterized the investigations into possible collusion between his campaign and the Russians as “fake news” and “a witch hunt.”
The president’s preferred means of communication on social media has always been Twitter, which he joined in 2009. Trump has tweeted more than 35,000 times since then.
The 32-year-old O’Keefe founded Project Veritas in 2010 and has produced a number of controversial undercover videos. He has at times been criticized for releasing content that was selectively edited to portray people in a negative light.
In 2010, he was sentenced to three years of probation, 100 hours of community service and a $1,500 fine after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges stemming from entering then-Sen. Mary Landrieu’s (D-La.) office on false pretenses.
