Jan. 6 panel subpoenas phone records associated with Eric Trump, Kimberly Guilfoyle: report

The House select committee on Jan. 6 has subpoenaed and obtained the phone records associated with former President Trump’s son Eric Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle, former Trump adviser and fiancée to Donald Trump Jr.

Multiple sources told CNN that the phone records that were obtained are part of a new round of call records requested from communication companies. These records include incoming and outgoing calls, the dates they were made, the duration and the times of the calls.

These subpoenas appear to be the first that have been issued by the Jan. 6 committee targeting members of the Trump family, CNN noted.

“We know nothing about any subpoena but it is of no consequence to her because she has absolutely nothing to hide or be concerned about,” Joe Tacopina, Guilfoyle’s attorney told The Hill in a statement.

“The fact that Mr. Thompson confirms a subpoena to a group of reporters before even notifying Ms. Guilfoyle’s counsel is very concerning and exposes what is truly important to the committee , publicity,” Tacopina said.

Representatives for Eric Trump did not immediately respond when reached by The Hill.

Both Eric Trump and Guilfoyle were involved in the Trump campaign’s “Stop the Steal” efforts following the 2020 presidential election, with both having spoken at the pro-Trump rally that preceded the attack on the Capitol. One source told CNN that the committee’s interest was linked to Eric Trump’s fundraising efforts for “Stop the Steal.”

When reached by The Hill, a representative for the House select committee on Jan. 6 declined to comment on the reported subpoenas.

There is so far no indication that either Eric Trump or Guilfoyle themselves have been subpoenaed by the committee for interviews or documents, nor is there any indication that any records having to do with other adult children of the former president have been subpoenaed.

It was also reported on Tuesday that the committee has subpoenaed Trump allies who were also involved in the “Stop the Steal” effort, targeting members of the former president’s core legal team including Rudy Giuliani, Jenna Ellis, Sidney Powell and Boris Epshteyn.

“The four individuals we’ve subpoenaed today advanced unsupported theories about election fraud, pushed efforts to overturn the election results, or were in direct contact with the former President about attempts to stop the counting of electoral votes,” committee Chair Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) said.
