House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Monday unveiled a slate of new task forces and their chairs at the House GOP retreat in Florida.
The task forces include jobs and the economy, chaired by Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.); big tech censorship, chaired by Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.); future of American freedoms, chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio); energy, climate and conservation, chaired by Rep. The chairs will preside over breakout sessions Monday afternoon and take on a formal role in the House GOP conference in the months to come.
Politico first reported on the creation of the tasks forces.
The task forces and chairs were announced at the House GOP retreat in Florida, where members of the conference are convening in an attempt to unify ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
The party is also trying to find its footing in a post-Trump Washington.
