Gaetz to speak at Save America summit amid sex trafficking investigation
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) is scheduled to speak Friday at a conservative summit at a Trump-owned Miami resort as the GOP congressman faces an ongoing Justice Department probe into allegations of sex with a minor and child sex trafficking.
Women for America First, the pro-Trump political organization that organized the Jan. 6 rally on the Ellipse that was followed by the deadly mob attack at the Capitol, announced on Twitter Tuesday that Gaetz would be among its speakers at the Save America Summit being held at the Trump National Doral Miami golf resort.
“Rep Matt Gaetz has been a fearless leader in DC,” the group tweeted. “Few members of Congress have been more willing than Matt to stand up & fight on behalf of President Trump & his America First Agenda.”
The organization added, “We are honored to have @RepMattGaetz speak at the #SaveAmericaSummit!”

Gaetz later confirmed his involvement in the event with his own tweet, writing, “Thank you to ‘Women for America First’ for the invitation to share my vision for our great nation.”

The summit, which is scheduled to run from Thursday through Sunday, will likely be the first time Gaetz will address an audience since reports have surfaced on a federal probe into whether he had sex with a 17-year-old and paid for her travel, and whether he gave other women money in exchange for sexual favors.
While some have theorized that the negative attention from the accusations will force Gaetz to leave Congress, the Florida congressman denied this assertion, telling The Hill last week that he has no plans to step down.
Gaetz has also denied having sex with a minor, and in an op-ed this week claimed that the allegations are part of a smear campaign against him by his political opponents.
This weekend’s Miami summit will also feature several other elected officials and public figures who have aligned themselves with former President Trump, including Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), as well as GOP Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.), Louie Gohmert (Texas).
According to its website, the event will focus on Women for America First’s goal to stop “the radical agenda being pushed, not only from the White House but in Congress.”
“We are not going to sit back and let the Left define who we are and what we stand for in 2021,” the group wrote in the event description. “Our nation is at a tipping point.”
“If we want to SAVE AMERICA and our freedom, it’s time to fight back. It’s time to stop looking in our rearview mirror and start looking forward,” they added.
Among the summit’s planned topics are “Election Integrity,” which the group listed as a “priority,” “Big Tech & Censorship,” and “furthering America First Policies.”
