READ: Democrats reject Trump impeachment lawyers’ arguments for dismissal
House Democrats in a legal brief on Monday rejected the argument advanced by former President Trump’s defense team, dismissing claims that he bears no responsibility for the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol.
The nine Democratic impeachment managers instead contend that Trump incited the mob of his supporters that carried out the attack and that Congress has every right to convict the former president to prevent him from holding high office again.
