Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) tested negative for COVID-19 on Friday after President Trump announced he tested positive for the virus.
“Today, Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R-OH) tested negative for COVID-19. Mr. Jordan has been advised by his physician that since he was not in close contact with any COVID-19 positive people during a risk time period, he does not have to quarantine. Today’s test was taken as a precaution and Mr. Jordan looks forward to continuing to work hard for the people of Ohio’s Fourth District,” said Jordan spokesperson Russell Dye.
Jordan last interacted with Trump when he flew on Air Force One with him to Ohio on Tuesday, the day the president attended the first presidential debate in Cleveland against Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
“Our prayers are with President Trump, the First Lady, Hope Hicks, and every other American family impacted by #COVIDー19,” Jordan tweeted Friday morning, referring to first lady Melania Trump and senior adviser Hope Hicks, who also tested positive. “America will defeat this virus.”
Jordan, a vocal supporter of the White House, has expressed skepticism over the seriousness of the pandemic and has eschewed some health guidance including wearing a mask. He was scolded at a House hearing in July and was told to put his mask back on by order of the attending physician.
