Pressley experiencing flu-like symptoms, being tested for COVID-19
Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) has been tested for coronavirus after experiencing flu-like symptoms, her office announced Wednesday night.
“After experiencing flu-like symptoms, Congresswoman Pressley sought professional medical treatment out of an abundance of caution. She has been tested for COVID-19 and is awaiting test results,” Pressley spokesperson Lina Francis said in a statement Wednesday.
Pressley’s fellow Massachusetts Rep. Seth Moulton (D) announced earlier in the day that he will also self-quarantine due to possible symptoms, including tightness in his chest and a low-grade fever, but said he does not qualify for testing.
Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.), who served as a co-chairwoman of Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-Mass.) presidential campaign with Pressley, also said she will self-quarantine this week while she awaits test results.
Three members of Congress have tested positive for the virus thus far: Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) and Ben McAdams (D-Utah) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).
