Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) commented on former President Trump’s recent conviction in his New York hush money case, saying most Americans are ready to move past “the global embarrassment that is Donald Trump.”
“It’s a sad day for our country,” Frost said in a Friday post on the social platform X. “A former President and current leader of the Republican Party is a convicted felon that has also been found liable for rape. He’s also a known bigot and racist.”
“I know that most Americans are ready to move on past the global embarrassment that is Donald Trump,” Frost continued.
Trump became the first former president to have the status of being a convicted felon on Thursday, following a jury finding him guilty on all counts of falsifying business records to hide alleged affairs amid his 2016 campaign.
Trump slammed the trial following his conviction.
“This was a rigged, disgraceful trial. The real verdict is going to be Nov. 5 by the people, and they know what happened here, and everybody knows what happened here,” Trump said outside the courtroom following the verdict being read.
President Biden pushed back Friday on Trump calling the trial “rigged,” saying it as such is “irresponsible” and “reckless.”
“It’s reckless, it’s dangerous, it’s irresponsible for anyone to say this was rigged just because they don’t like the verdict,” the president said.
“Our justice system should be respected, and we should never allow anyone to tear it down; it’s as simple as that,” Biden continued.
