Reed thanks well wishers, will return to work Monday after collapse

Rep. Tom Reed (R-N.Y.) on Friday said in a statement that he will return to work in the House on Monday after collapsing on Thursday

The lawmaker said that after the collapse he learned he had pneumonia.

{mosads}”Thank you to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. After my evaluation by the doctors at George Washington University Hospital, it turns out I had a previously undiagnosed case of pneumonia. I look forward to returning to work on Monday,” Reed’s statement said.

The Republican collapsed Thursday in the Cannon Office Building rotunda before he was slated to appear on Fox Business.

He was conscious and speaking before being taken to the hospital.

Reed, 47, previously was treated for a pulmonary embolism in 2010 soon after he was first elected to Congress.
