Pressley on Kavanaugh impeachment: ‘Deeply disturbing’ that a justice ‘could have this many allegations’
Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) told CNN on Tuesday that “it’s deeply disturbing” for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh to have “this many allegations” against him, explaining she had filed an impeachment resolution against him in order to “get to the truth.”
“It’s deeply disturbing that someone that serves on the highest court in the land could have this many allegations,” Pressley said.

Pressley, a survivor of sexual assault, called on other members of the Democratic caucus to get behind her impeachment push, including Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who had urged the Massachusetts representative to “get real,” CNN reported.
“I say this is the reckoning, and gone are the days we will be complicit,” Pressley said.
“One of the reasons why I ran for Congress is to fight for the healing and the justice of all survivors, and so I’m doing what I was delivered to Congress to do,” she said.
Pressley’s impeachment resolution follows a New York Times story published Saturday that alleged that a male classmate witnessed Kavanaugh press his genitals against a woman without her consent during college.
The Times issued a correction afterward, saying that several friends of the woman told them she does not remember the incident.
Conservatives including President Trump have seized on the correction to paint the Times’s reporting as fundamentally flawed, saying the media wants to smear Kavanaugh.
“The New York Times made another terrible mistake. It’s a shame that a thing like that could happen,” Trump told reporters Monday.
“To do that about a Supreme Court justice is a terrible thing,” he continued. “It’s fake news. It’s just fake news. They have to be very embarrassed.”
