Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) urged Americans to demand that their representatives ban assault weapons or kick their “a—” out of Congress.
“Americans, please stop tolerating the pain, suffering, and prayers of families, friends, neighborhoods & all caring Americans. Demand the Members of Congress get rid of ALL assault weapons or kick our a— out of Congress!” she tweeted Tuesday.
Waters’s statement followed two mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas, over the weekend that left 31 dead and brought renewed focus to U.S. gun laws. Following the incidents, many Democrats have called for tighter restrictions.
President, Trump, meanwhile, has called for “red flag” laws that would allow law enforcement to take weapons from possibly dangerous individuals.
