Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez to unveil legislation targeting credit card, banking industries

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) are set to introduce legislation Thursday targeting the credit card and banking industries.

The two lawmakers will unveil the proposal in a Facebook livestream at 12 p.m.

Sanders, who is running for president, has been a vocal critic of Wall Street throughout his career.

He has frequently introduced plans with the goal of making financial and economic policies prioritize the average American instead of the upper class.

Ocasio-Cortez has similarly railed against skyrocketing inequality and advocated for increased regulation of Wall Street institutions.

The freshman New York lawmaker worked on Sanders’s ultimately unsuccessful 2016 presidential campaign.
