House Dems subpoena Deutsche Bank, other lenders for info on Trump: report

House Democrats on Monday reportedly subpoenaed Deutsche Bank and several other banks, asking for information about President Trump’s finances as well as the dealings between the banks and Russia.  

The New York Times, citing several people with knowledge of the investigation, reported that the subpoenas were issued by the House Intelligence and Financial Services committees. 

{mosads}The subpoenas represent the latest attempts by Democrats in Congress to investigate the personal finances of Trump. The House Ways and Means Committee earlier this month formally requested six years of Trump’s tax returns from the Internal Revenue Service, a request the White House is vehemently fighting.

The Times noted that the two committees that issued the subpoenas Monday are specifically probing the relationship between Trump and Deutsche Bank, which has provided more than $2 billion in loans to Trump over the years, according to the Times.

The Times reported that the subpoenas had been in the works for months leading up to Monday as congressional investigators negotiated with attorneys for the bank.

Kerrie McHugh, a Deutsche Bank spokeswoman, told the Times that the bank is “engaged in a productive dialogue” with the House committees.

“We remain committed to providing appropriate information to all authorized investigations in a manner consistent with our legal obligations,” McHugh said.

The other banks that were reportedly issued subpoenas on Monday included Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America.
