Ocasio-Cortez on Fox News coverage: ‘Why are so many grown men’ obsessed with me

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Thursday hit Fox News over its coverage of her, asking why so many “grown men” are “obsessed” with her.

The freshman lawmaker, in an appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” called the network’s coverage of her “lunacy.”

{mosads}Meyers asked Ocasio-Cortez why she thought the network has “shifted all its attention and programming” to cover her.

“I mean, it’s weird, why are so many grown men obsessed with this 29-year-old?” she asked, adding that she thinks “it’s really funny.”

The rising Democratic star said she does see how Fox News coverage affects her relationship with her Republican colleagues.

“It is funny because one of the side effects of this Fox News lunacy is that other actual members of Congress believe it and see it uncritically,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

The New York Democrat has become a lightning rod for conservative criticism since her stunning primary defeat of 10-term incumbent Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.), the former chairman of the House Democratic Caucus. Since taking office, Ocasio-Cortez has frequently been the focus of reports on Fox News.

The first-term lawmaker frequently criticizes the network and its coverage of her.

She fired back at Fox News host Laura Ingraham for making fun of how she pronounces her name with an accent.

Ocasio-Cortez also knocked hosts on the network who were “gleefully” cracking jokes about her finances, saying the jokes revealed their thoughts about working-class people.
