Dem goes viral for ‘eye roll’ at Republican during Cohen testimony

Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands) drew attention on social media Wednesday for her reaction during GOP questioning at a hearing featuring President Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen.

During the hearing, Plaskett could be seen shooting a look at Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) as he expressed frustration with not being provided a copy of Cohen’s opening statement well in advance of Cohen’s testimony before the House Oversight and Reform Committee.

“I just have a simple motion, Mr. Chairman,” Jordan, the top Republican on the panel, says in a video clip of the segment that has gone viral. As Jordan speaks, Plaskett turns to look in his direction and give what some social media users have interpreted as an eye roll.{mosads}

Jordan had repeatedly expressed his frustrations with his Democratic counterparts for allowing Cohen to testify despite being sentenced to prison for lying to Congress in addition to other crimes. The former Trump lawyer is set to go to jail in May.

The brief moment sparked various reactions on Twitter, including from former ESPN personality Jemele Hill, who said, “Stacey Plaskett is all of us looking at Jim Jordan, the last person who should address anyone’s character.”

Others followed suit shortly after.

Plaskett also acknowledged the viral moment and retweeted a post from a user who said the congresswoman “is all of us right now listening to the bs in #CohenHearing.”

She also responded to Hill’s tweet, thanking her for her support.

During the hearing, Jordan tore into Cohen, reciting his crimes and attempting to cast doubt on the truthfulness of his testimony before the committee.
