Supporters leave notes on plaque outside Ocasio-Cortez’s office
Supporters of newly minted U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday covered the plaque outside her Capitol Hill office with encouraging sticky notes.
A picture posted to social media shows the plaque adorned with pink and orange notes bearing messages like, “keep dancing,” “you rock,” “you are loved” and “do you.”

The notes were left outside her office the same day the congresswoman and group of other Democratic lawmakers marched to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) office to urge him to reopen the government.
{mosads}Thirty Democratic House freshmen signed the letter, which was delivered on the 26th day of the partial government shutdown.
Ocasio-Cortez tweeted that after attempting to find McConnell with Democratic Reps. Katie Kill (Calif.), Lauren Underwood (Ill.) and Jahana Hayes (Ct.), she returned to “this loving surprise.”

Ocasio-Cortez is widely viewed as a rising progressive star in the Democratic Party. At 28, she became the youngest woman elected to Congress in the midterm elections. At 29, she is the youngest member of Congress.
She was officially sworn into Congress earlier this month and has drawn attention for being outspoken on a range of issues.
