Dem group: House Intelligence Committee ignored most Trump-Russia links
A new study by a Democratic-aligned group says that the House Intelligence Committee’s probe into Russia’s election interference ignored most links between President Trump’s campaign and Moscow.
The report — by the Center for American Progress’s Moscow Project — argues the committee overlooked many of the contacts that occurred between Trump campaign officials and Russians, NBC News reported.
The report lays out dozens of contacts between members of the Trump team and Russian-linked operatives and alleges the House Intelligence Committee did not interview many key witnesses.
{mosads}The report also said “at least 22 high-ranking campaign officials and Trump advisers were aware of the contacts with Russia-linked operatives during the campaign and transition.”
“None of these contacts were ever reported to the proper authorities. Instead, the Trump team tried to cover up every single one of them,” the report said.
“The American people deserve answers.”
Earlier this month, Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas) — who was leading the House Intelligence Committee’s probe into Russia’s election interference — announced the end of the investigation and laid out a number of conclusions reached by GOP members in their initial report.
Among those conclusions was the assertion that there is no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
The report drew strong criticism from committee Democrats, who said the committee came to no such conclusion.
