Retiring GOP Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.) said in an interview broadcast Sunday that Congress should look at the length of time members serve in committee chair positions.
“I think we should look at maybe the length of our chairmanships. But at the same — at the same time, I think these term limits are probably good from the standpoint of bringing in new blood, new ideas,” Royce told CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

Party rules limit committee leaders to three consecutive terms.
Royce, who currently serves as the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, is retiring at the end of his current term.
Appearing on a panel with other lawmakers also retiring at the end of their current terms, Royce described the GOP as “a big tent party.”
“I think there’s room in the party for lot of different viewpoints,” he said.
