Scalise ‘resting comfortably’ after follow-up surgery from shooting
Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) is “resting comfortably” after having surgery in a follow-up to last year’s shooting during a practice for the annual congressional baseball game.
“Congressman Steve Scalise is resting comfortably after a planned follow-up surgery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center,” MedStar Washington Hospital Center said in a statement released by Scalise’s office.
{mosads}“The surgery went well, and he is listed in fair condition,” the statement said. “He is likely to remain in the hospital for several days and will then continue his recovery at home.”
Scalise returned to work at the Capitol in September. The Louisiana lawmaker was shot in June when a gunman opened fire during GOP baseball practice at a field in Alexandria, Va.
He spent weeks in a Washington, D.C.-area hospital and underwent multiple surgeries as part of his recovery from injuries sustained in the shooting.
