House GOP nets Feb. fundraising record: report

The House Republicans’ campaign arm hauled in a record fundraising total in February following President Trump’s first full month in office, according to a new report.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) on Wednesday announced it raised a record $10.5 million last month, The Washington Post said.

The NRCC’s results are more than double the $5 million it took in during the last non-election-year February, according to the Post.

{mosads}The NRCC also scored a record $10 million in January, the Post reported, outpacing a reported $7.8 million for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) the same month.

“Republicans are determined to deliver on the promises we made to the American people, and these historic fundraising numbers are a testament to their belief in our ability to execute on their behalf,” Rep. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio), the NRCC’s chairman, said. “With record fundraising totals for two straight months, there is simply no denying that Republican momentum is building for 2018.”

The Post said Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) played a big role in boosting February’s haul, transferring $4.4 million from his joint fundraising committee to the NRCC last month.

“House Republicans ran on a very specific plan to get our country back on track, and now with a unified Republican government we have an opportunity to deliver on those big promises,” Kevin Seifert, Ryan’s chief political adviser, said.

The DCCC has not yet revealed its February fundraising results, the Post added, but the group did tout a record month for grassroots contributions Tuesday. It said it received $4.7 million in online donations and $1.8 million through direct mail and phone calls.

“The massive growth in our base of grass-roots donors will continue to benefit our committee and our candidates as we work to maximize gains on an expanded battlefield,” DCCC spokesman Tyler Law said Tuesday.
