No surprises as Huckabee, Clinton win Arkansas

The two candidates with Arkansas roots were projected to win that state Tuesday night as Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and the state’s former Gov. Mike Huckabee were able to maintain leads there.

With the polls closing in the state at 8:30 EST, Clinton, the state’s former first lady, and Huckabee, the former governor were declared winners.

{mosads}For Clinton, the victory comes shortly after a win in neighboring Tennessee, giving the former first lady her second Southern victory of the night.

Huckabee’s win in Arkansas was his second of the day as he won the GOP state convention in West Virginia earlier in the day.

For Republicans, the state carries 34 delegates. For Democrats, which are allocated proportionally, Arkansas has 47 delegates.
