House Republicans targeting 26 Democrats on initial midterm list
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) rolled out a list of 26 vulnerable House Democrats it plans to target in the 2026 midterms.
The list includes California Reps. Josh Harder, Adam Gray, George Whitesides, Derek Tran and Dave Min, and Florida Reps. Darren Soto and Jared Moskowitz.
It also includes Reps. Frank Mrvan (Ind.), Jared Golden (Maine), Kristen McDonald Rivet (Mich.), Don Davis (N.C.), Chris Pappas (N.H.), Nellie Pou (N.J.) and Gabe Vasquez (N.M.), and Nevada Reps. Dina Titus, Susie Lee and Steven Horsford.
The final names on the list are New York Reps. Tom Suozzi, Laura Gillen and Josh Riley; Ohio Reps. Marcy Kaptur and Emilia Sykes; Texas Reps. Henry Cuellar and Vicente Gonzalez; Virginia Rep. Eugene Vindman; and Washington Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez.
NRCC Chair Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) said in a statement Monday that House Republicans are “on offense” going into the next cycle.
“Meanwhile, vulnerable House Democrats have been hard at work demonstrating they are painfully out of touch with hardworking Americans,” Hudson said. “Republicans are taking the fight straight to these House Democrats in their districts, and we will unseat them next fall.”
In a statement, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) spokesperson Viet Shelton touted Democrats’ “battle-tested candidates who won despite the NRCC’s false bravado” and said “these Frontliners will win again in the midterms.”
“The truth is House Republicans are running scared and refusing to hold town halls because they don’t want to get yelled at for their failure to lower prices, bungling the economy, and cutting Medicaid in order to pay for tax breaks for billionaires like Elon Musk,” Shelton added.
The House Republican campaign arm’s target list comes after its counterparts at the DCCC released its list of members in its Frontline Program, identifying Democrats in competitive districts it is aiming to support in their reelection campaigns.
The two lists include some overlap, including the 13 House Democrats from districts President Trump won last year.
Reps. Jahana Hayes (Conn.), John Mannion (N.Y.), and Janelle Bynum (Ore.) are on the Democrats’ Frontline list but are not NRCC targets. Meanwhile, NRCC targets Soto, Pappas, and Moskowitz are not on the Frontline list.
