Donald Trump Jr. lauded his friend and ally Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) on Monday after former President Trump selected Vance as his 2024 running mate.
Trump Jr. argued that Vance, a graduate of Yale Law School and vocal defender of the former president on television, will help his father “prosecute the case” against Democrats heading into the November election.
“I think it’s an incredible pick. I think he’s an incredible guy with an amazing story, both in business and in life, and I think it’s going to be an incredible person to help unify this country,” Trump Jr. told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on the convention floor in remarks broadcast by the network.
“I’ve seen him on TV, I’ve seen him prosecute the case against the Democrats. I think no one is more articulate than that, and I think his story, his background, really helps us a lot in the places you are going to need from the Electoral College standpoint,” Trump Jr. added.
Speculation Vance would be tapped as Trump’s running mate ramped up last week after it was announced that Trump Jr., his friend, would speak ahead of the VP choice at the Republican National Convention this week.
Trump Jr. on Friday also reupped a video from Vance’s Senate campaign launch in 2022, seeking to reintroduce the Ohio Republican to followers on the eve of the convention.
The younger Trump has previously signaled Vance as his preference for the ticket, noting in a recent podcast episode “everyone knows, I’ve sort of been for JD Vance.”
