Secret Service says Trump is ‘safe’ following shooting at Pennsylvania rally

The Secret Service said former President Trump is “safe” following an apparent shooting at his campaign rally Saturday in Pennsylvania.

“An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania,” Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a post on the social platform X shortly after the incident.

“The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available,” he continued.

The former president could be seen dropping to the ground from the podium after loud pops were heard. He was later led off-stage by Secret Service agents. As he walked off, he pumped his fist in the air.

The former president’s campaign said in a statement that Trump was “fine” and being checked a medical facility.

“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow,” Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement.
