Bolton: If Trump wins, he should thank Biden, Democrats in victory speech

Former U.N. ambassador John Bolton said Tuesday that disarray over President Biden’s campaign is helping former President Trump, as Democrats question Biden’s health and mental ability.

“If Trump wins in November, his victory speech election night should start off by saying, ‘I want to thank Joe Biden and the Democratic Party’,” Bolton said in a Tuesday radio interview with John Catsimatidis and Rita Cosby on the “Cats & Cosby Show” on WABC 770 AM.

A lackluster debate performance last month has raised concerns among Democrats over whether Biden can defeat Trump in November.

Seven House Democrats have publicly called on Biden to leave the race and make way for a different nominee, and a rising number have called on him to quickly prove that he can be a strong candidate. Biden has emphatically rejected calls to leave the race.

Bolton, who also served as national security adviser in the Trump administration, said the issue of Biden’s age could be the undoing of Democrats up and down the ballot.

“I don’t know what the Democrats are going to do,” he said. “Maybe they’ll jump off the cliff like lemmings because they can’t bear the thought of standing up to the cult of personality they face in the Democratic Party.”

Trump and Biden candidates remain neck-and-neck in national polling. Trump leads Biden by 1.3 percent in The Hill/Decision Desk HQ average of polls.
