Vance predicts ‘a little bit of disappointment’ if he’s not Trump VP pick, but ‘that’s fine’

Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), who is rumored to be on former President Trump’s vice presidential shortlist, said there would be a “little bit of disappointment” if he’s not chosen as a running mate, adding that it would be “fine” if he’s not selected.

Vance and his wife, Usha, joined Lawrence Jones on Fox News Channel’s “FOX & Friends” for an interview about potentially being the next second family.

The Ohio senator once criticized Trump but has become one of his biggest supporters. He is rumored to be among Trump’s top contenders.

Jones asked Vance if the Trump campaign has let him know he is being vetted. Vance confirmed the campaign made contact but added he thinks they “reached out to a lot of people.”

“My best guess is they’re looking at me, and they’re looking at a lot of other people, too, and they’ll ask me if they ask me, and if they don’t, that’s fine,” Vance said.

The Ohio senator admitted he was human and that when things don’t work out, there likely will be disappointment.

“And so, when you know this thing’s a possibility, if it doesn’t happen, there’s certainly going to be a little bit of disappointment,” he said. “But I think the bigger this is, it’s such a cool thing to get that job that I do.”

He added that he loves being a father and “that’s not going to change, whether Trump asked me to be vice president or not.”

The former president said he would announce his VP pick at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in mid-July.

Other possible running mates include Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R), among others.
