Trump campaign opens Savannah office as it attempts to court Georgia voters

The Trump campaign opened a new field office in Savannah, Ga., on Saturday, according to a campaign staffer.

“The rain couldn’t deter the great patriots in Savannah from helping us open our newest office!” Wylie Shaw, a deputy state director for the Trump campaign, said in a post on the social platform X.

The new campaign office comes as the former president’s campaign is making moves in the Peach State, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. It recently also launched offices in suburban metro Atlanta.

“If he doesn’t win Georgia, he’s not going to win,” Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) said to a crowd outside the Savannah office, according to the Journal-Constitution.

According to a The Hill/Decision Desk HQ average of Georgia polls, Trump is leading in the state by 4.3 percent, at 50.1 percent versus Biden’s 45.8 percent. Trump barely lost to Biden in Georgia back in 2020, but won it in 2016 over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

During a campaign reception in Atlanta last month, Biden pushed his backers to stand up against Trump. The president said his GOP rival is “running for revenge.”

“Folks, Trump isn’t running to lead America. He’s running for revenge,” Biden said, per pool notes. “And look, revenge is no way to lead a country.”
